Summary
[edit]DescriptionAnsonia Court South Slope.jpg | The Ansonia Court, formerly the Ansonia Clock Company Factory, at 420 12th Street at Seventh Avenue in the South Slope neighborhood of Brooklyn, New York City, was built in 1880-81 and was designed by Samuel Curtiss Jr. in the American Round-Arched style, an industrial interpretation of the German Romanesque Revival style. At its peak, with 1,500 workers, it was the world's largest clock factory. In 1982 it was converted into apartments by Hurley & Farinella, with Zion & Breen as the landscape architects. The building is located in the Park Slope Historic District Extension. (Sources: AIA Guide to NYC (5th ed.) and "Park Slope Historic District Extension Designation Report") |
