Description Another of one of Japan's early rail car trains preserved in the Kyoto Railway Museum in Kyoto, Japan. This car is from the 103 series built in 1963. The 103 series (103-kei) is a DC electric multiple unit (EMU) commuter train type introduced in 1963 by Japanese National Railways (JNR), and operated by West Japan Railway Company (JR West) and Kyushu Railway Company (JR Kyushu). They were also operated by East Japan Railway Company (JR East) and Central Japan Railway Company (JR Central). In 2004, some sets were shipped to Indonesia, where they operate on the KRL Jabodetabek system in Jakarta. Those units in Jakarta have been retired in 2016. (Kyoto, Japan, Apr/ May 2019)
