X-ray. Mr. Burnham, on becoming a trustee, and realizing thegreat good that the hospital was doing, soon became greatlyinterested in its work and welfare, particularly in the X-RayDepartment and in the development of this branch of medicalscience. He brought to the aid of the institution the enter-prise, sagacity and experience which he had gained from theconduct of a successful private business, and a wide publicinfluence and authority which came from his industrial andcommercial eminence, and at his death he left by his will, intestimony of his devotion to the Boston City Hospital, thesum of $150,000, to construct and equip upon the hospitalgrounds a building to be known as the Lamont G. BurnhamWard, for such uses and purposes as the Trustees of saidhospital shall in their discretion determine. This buildingyou have been invited to inspect to-day. The lower floor willbe devoted entirely to the X-Ray Department, and on thesecond and third floors continuous service will be adopted, as
