With the foregoing acquisition, the park system of ColoradoSprings embraces 2,666 acres and is valued at $2,017,000 accord-ing to the estimate recently filed with the city auditor by thepark commission. Negotiations for South Cheyenne Canyon. Not content with these acquisitions, the enterprising city ofColorado Springs, through its park commission, is negotiatingfor the purchase of South Cheyenne canyon, famous for its SevenFalls, Pillars of Hercules and other natural wonders. The citylias secured an option to purchase this tract of 323 acres for$217,500 and the city council has passed an ordinance providingfor- a special election in the near future to authorize a bond issueand give the city the right to acquire the property for park pur-poses.
