Description
Nederlands: Het hoofdaltaar van de St-Annakerk in Annaberg-Buchholz met een zgn. boom van Jesse.. De boom van Jesse is een Bijbelse benaming voor de nakomelingen van Isaï ofwel Jesse waartoe ook Jezus van Nazaret behoort. Ook afgebeeld zijn de twaalf stammen van Israël, de twaalf koningen van israël en de twaalf apostelen. Het altaar werd geschonken door de stichter van de stad, landsheer Georg der Bärtige (1471-1539) en zijn vrouw Joanna, wier wapenschilden op de sculptuur is afgebeeld.
English: Thge main altar of St. Annenkirche (Annaberg-Buchholz)|St-Annakerk in Annaberg-Buchholz]] with a. Tree Jesse.. The Tree of Jesse is a depiction in art of the ancestors of Jesus Christ, shown in a branching tree which rises from Jesse of Bethlehem, the father of King David. Als o depicted are the twelve tribes of Israel, the twelve Kings of Israel and the twelve Apostes. The altar was donated by the fopunder of the city George of Saxony (1471-1539) and his wife Johanna.
