Title
Anglo Saxon Polyhedral Pin
Description
English: A copper alloy pin that dates to the middle Anglo-Saxon period. The pin is polyhedral in shape, with circles on each of the faces as decoration. The shaft stems from the bottom of the head, but is broken about halfway down. Where the break is the pin has also been bent out of shape. The metal is green in colour with some areas covered in soil. It weighs 3.0g and measures 33.75mm in length and the head is 7.6mm thick. This types of pins generally date to the 8th and 9th centuries, but are broadly Early Medieval in date. For a parallel see Griffiths, D., Philpott. and Egan, G. (2007) 67, no. 361.
