Title
Anglo-saxon polyhedral pin
Description
English: Large copper alloy Anglo-Saxon pin. The pin has a polyhedral decorated head with a motif of four small ring and dots on each of the four main faces. The polyhedral head is shaped as a cube with each corner removed and each of the smaller facets has a single ring and dot motif. On the top of the head there is an incised cross. Below the pin head there is a small collar (often a characteristic of Anglo-Saxon pins) and the shaft tapers towards the end with a slight thickening at the centre. The shaft is bent at right angles to the pin head. The pin weighs 4.44g and measures 33.2mm in length, 8.1mm in width (across the pin head) and 16.5mm in height (thickness).
