Anglo-Saxon small long brooch
Description
English: Incomplete copper alloy small long brooch. The brooch has a damaged trefoil head with an inner perimeter of pairs of stamped crescents. There are two transversely incised lines below at the start of the bow. The bow is faceted and is covered with randomly placed worn ring and dot motifs. There are two further transversly incised lines at the base of the bow. There is a flat panel below the bow divided by two incised lines, and two moulded and incised collars below. The foot is triangular and has a perimeter of pairs of punched crescents. There is a single copper alloy lug for the pin on the reverse surrounded by iron corrosion. The catchplate is intact apart from the rolled over top. The pin is missing. Similar examples are recorded as NMS-496236, LEIC-9F7378 and NMS 01AD32.
