Title
Anglo-Saxon pin
Description
English: Complete copper alloy dress pin with ring head and spangles. The shank has a circular head with a hole through the centre. Below the head are two faceted mouldings which are square in cross-section and divided by a collar. There are three smaller collars below. The shank is circular in cross-section from here on and stays the same thickness until it terminates with an abrupt tip. The pin shank is slightly bowed and there are no signs of damage. Through the pins circular head is a ring of copper alloy. This is ring is constructed out of a single length of circular-sectioned copper alloy bent into a ring with the two terminals twisted around and grasping the frame. Attached to the ring are two flat triangular sheets of copper alloy, both pierced at the apex. The perimeter of these sheets are decorated with a double incised line.
