Anglo-Saxon mount
Description
English: Incomplete copper-alloy object in the form of a human face. All that remains are the upper parts of two eyes and the deep eyebrows. The eyes are moulded circular pellets within deeply recessed sockets, and the eyebrows curve above, with contour grooves towards the lower edges. The reverse is undecorated and no fixings survive. The object is broken along the top of the head and also at the bottom. It measures 13 mm long x 22 mm wide, and is 4 mm thick.

The object may possibly be a knob from a florid cruciform brooch. These were sometimes made separately and attached to the main body of the brooch, but tend to have a pair of small loops on their backs, which this object lacks. Alternatively it may be part of the foot of a florid cruciform brooch.

The Style I decoration dates this object to the sixth century. Another object with Style I anthropomorphic decoration has been discovered on the same field, recorded on the PAS database as <a href="http://www.findsdatabase.org.uk/hms/pas_obj.php?type=finds&id=0013F0ACF3E01686"> LIN-ACD875</a>.
