Title |
Anglo-Saxon hooked tag, front |
||
Description |
English: Small copper alloy Anglo-Saxon dress hook, probably dating from the 8th - 10th century. The hooked tag has a flat triangular plate with two small perforations (one in each corner). The hook tapers to a point and curves over at the very tip. The object weighs 0.35g and measures 13.9mm in length, 11.8mm in width and 3.3mm in thickness (including curved hook. This type of tag is quite delicate in construction and was probably only used for light fastening. It was probably sewn onto the garment. |
