Description
This fully rigged ship was built in 1857 in New Orleans by D. Marcy. It was originally employed by Marcy & Co., New Orleans as the Henriette Marcy. Sold to Curtis & Peabody, Boston, and again sold (in 1860 or 1861) to Wm. M. Mc. Lain, Saint John, New Brunswick and renamed St. Albans. Sold to I.S. Pontoppidan of Helsingør, Denmark in 1872 and the same year to Fregatskibet St. Albans Rhederi A/S, Helsingør. Foundered in the Atlantic in November 1888. The crew of 18 was rescued while the vessel was still floating. jmarcussen.dk (in Danish)
