Title |
Ampulla |
||
Description |
English: A cast lead flask shaped ampulla. The lower part of the ampulla has a rounded base, which tapers to a midway point, then flares outwards at the semi-circular upper edge. The edge is still closed so the ampulla may still contain holy water. On one side of the midway point is an integral loop, which is now flattened to the body of the ampulla. The integral loop on the other side is missing. On one face of the ampulla has crown above a lozenge within a double circle. Inside the lozenge is a vertical line, which is difficult to make out. The background of the circle is crosshatched. Between the integral loops is the remains of a design consisting of two horizontal bands with a line of pellets between them. The other face is very worn but may have a flower. The length of the ampulla is 55.5mm, the width is 32.3mm and the weight is 57.05g. |
