Title
Amphora type strap terminal
Description
English: Copper alloy military 'amphora' type strap-end or, more correctly, belt terminal dating to the late Roman period. At the top of the belt terminal are two integral suspension loops set at a right angle to the plane of the body. Both loops are filled with iron corrosion, presumably from the axis bar. The neck of the amphora has three "handles" on either side. The upper and lower have circular openwork areas, whilst the middle two have kidney shaped openings. The main body of the belt terminal is flat and oval, terminating with a transversly ribbed conical foot.
