A TELEPHONE TIME-SAVER THE Electrical Review describes a newdevice that will be welcomed by manypersons who make frequent use of the tele-phone; it is intended to save the timeusually wasted in holding the line. Theapparatus consists of a small trumpet thatmagnifies sound, and a platform behind thetrumpet to hold the telephone receiver. When the person at the telephone is askedto hold the line a moment, he places thereceiver on this platform in such a way thatit slides into position with the ear-pieceagainst the small end of the magnifyinghorn. He can then continue whateverwork he was doing until he hears the voicefrom the horn; after that he can use thetelephone in the ordinary way, or, if hewishes to make notes or to take a messagefrom dictation he can carry on the wholeconversation by means of the trumpet.
