Each house has a markedindividuality of its own, and differs from its neighbor, and yet the simple roof lines,the soft neutral colors of the cement and lattice work, thefenestration, and the pleasing details of doors and windowscharacterize them all, and make for an harmonious effect,which is lost when each dwelling is radically different inarchitecture from those around it. The houses in Ivy Court are of cement stucco on Natcohollow tile and have the advantage of being fireproof, whichis of great importance in districts where it is not easy to bereached by fire-fighting apparatus. The stucco placeddirectly on the hollow bricks does not loosen or peel as inthe case of wooden houses. Few repairs are required onthe exteriors of houses constructed in this way.
