English: U.S. Marine Capt. Jengis Gonzalez, left, a civil affairs officer with 3rd Civil Affairs Group, and his team participate in a pre-deployment training aboard Marine Air-Ground Combat Center Twentynine Palms, Calif., prior to deploying to Iraq in 2008. Gonzalez was born in Thailand to an American father and a Thai mother. He speaks Thai fluently and has served in three iterations on Exercise Cobra Gold as part of the Civil Affairs Group. Cobra Gold 2015, his latest iteration, is a combined-forces exercise, taking place across Thailand to advance regional security and ensure effective responses to crises in the area. |
