Amboise (Indre-et-Loire) Rampe d'accès au château et chapelle. La chapelle Saint-Hubert La chapelle Saint-Hubert fut édifiée et sculptée entre 1491 et 1496 par des artistes flamands dans le pur goût Gothique flamboyant en tuffeau blanc à l'initiative de Charles VIII. La chapelle sert ensuite d'oratoire à Anne de Bretagne, avant de devenir la dernière demeure présumée du corps de Léonard de Vinci, mort à Amboise en 1519. En 1489 Charles VIII entreprend des travaux: Il aménage un logis et construit la chapelle Saint-Hubert appelée chapelle du roi dans les documents. Le décor sculpté date de 1495-1496. A la même époque des bâtiments sont réaménagés Dès la fin de année 1493 le roi et la reine s'installent dans le logis rénové et la chapelle est mise en service alors même que le décor n'est pas terminé. Un compte d'ameublement* daté du 1er octobre 1493 mentionne "la chappelle", "la gallerie haulte de la chambre du roy" et "la gallerie basse de la chambre de la royne".
St. Hubert chapel was built and sculptured between 1491 and 1496 by Flemish artists, on the orders of Charles VIII. The chapel will serve as oratory of Anne of Brittany. Leonardo da Vinci died at Amboise in 1519, there would be buried. |
