Description
Deutsch: Hehlrather Barockaltar aus der Klosterkirche des Kapuzinerordens in Aldenhoven, 1805 über dessen Bürgermeister Kleinermann als Zwischenhändler im Auftrag der Napoleonischen Behörde nach Hehlrath für die 1787 renovierte Kirche verkauft. Das Bild wird schon von Paul Clemen als ein Bild der Antwerpener Malerschule erkannt - mit italienischem Einfluss. Es steht in der Tradition der Mariae Himmelfahrtsbilder des Peter Paul Rubens und verarbeitet die Geschichte der Kinderlosigkeit des Kurfürsten Johann Wilhelm II., in dessen Auftrag es höchst wahrscheinlich durch den Kapuzinermaler Damian (Schüler des Jacob Jordaens) im Düsseldorf Schloss-Malersaal 1696–1700 für das Kloster Aldenhoven gemalt wurde.
