Sie halten sich oft in größeren Gruppen auf und bevorzugen Felder, Gärten und Flurlandschaften.Der Star (Sturnus vulgaris) gehört zu den Singvögeln. Zur Familie der Stare gehört in Europa auch der Einfarbstar und der Rosenstar. Den Star sieht man nicht nur in ganz Europa sondern weltweit. Im Frühjahr, also zur Balzzeit, ist der Star (Vogel) ein echter Star, denn er kann problemlos andere Vogelstimmen imitieren und manerkennt ihn leicht an seinen eigenen abwechslungsreichen Melodien. Der Ruf, Warnruf und sein Gesang sind einzigartig. Er ist ein Stimmenimitator. Der Star ist ca. 22 cm groß und hat eine Flügelspannweite von ca. 40 cm. Er ist etwas kleiner als die Amsel.
