Description
Deutsch: Der später namhafte Archäologe und Kunsthistoriker lebte 1782 als Cicerone in Rom. In Verbindung mit Karl Philipp Moritz gab er die Zeitschrift "Italien und Deutschland" (1789-1790) heraus. Seine "reiche, fast vollständige Empirie" zog den Dichter Goethe an, obwohl seine Theorie der Künste von der Goethischen abwich. 1797 besuchte Hirt in Weimar Goethe und vermittelte die Berufung des Architekten Gentz für den Weimarer Schloßbau. 1817, als Hirt von seiner letzten Italienreise zurückkehrte, sahen sich die römischen Kunstfreunde zum letzten Male.
