Summary
[edit]DescriptionAlleged Hebrew book from St. Vincent panels.jpg |
English: Detail of the book held open by the figure in Jewish-looking attire in the "Panel of the Relic" (sixth panel) of the St. Vincent panels attributed to Nuno Gonçalves (c.1465-70). The script is often assumed to be or meant to look like Hebrew. Some historians speculate it might be a passage from the Old Testament (specific conjectures suggest Isaiah 66: 15-19), but most historians consider it illegible, and probably intended to be illegible. |
