[edit]DescriptionAlien Dusk (2770173639).jpg |
After a summer in the Martian arctic under the midnight sun, the Phoenix lander is now beginning to see the sun dip low near the horizon at night. The lander's cameras are also catching the first glimpses of morning frost on the ground. Both the sunset and the frost foreshadow the mission's end. Eventually, darkening skies and encrusting frost will end the lander's functional life. This color version was built from the raw images by Stuart Atkinson.
