DescriptionAli Dinar.jpg |
English: Photograph of Ali Dinar, last Sultan of Darfur, following his death in battle in 1916 at the hands of Anglo-Egyptian forces. Ali Dinar was killed in Kulme, south of Zalingei. This "trophy photo" of him was taken by the British right after his death, and is the only visual depiction ever made of a Darfuri sultan.[1] The photograph is currently preserved at Durham University Library (588/1/159). |
