Description

Possibly a copy of, or modeled after, Lawrence's 1816 portrait of Antonio Canova, of which at least twenty versions are known, not counting copies by others. The pose and clothing are identical to the Canova portraits, but the facial features, particularly the ear, are different.

Auction house description is Russian portrait painting of an aristocratic young man in a fur trimmed dressing gown.
