Alboleptonia stylophora/Entoloma stylophorum (Berk. & Broome) Pegler, Image location: Bosque Estatal de Carite, Guavate, Puerto Rico, USA This Alboleptonia stylophora/Entoloma sp. was found in subtropical forest just off Rt. 184 in Bosque Estatal de Carite in Puerto Rico’s Sierra de Cayey mountain range. I have seen more mature specimens in this exact location in past years but did not collect them. The pointy caps of the young basidiomata are very distinctive. The more mature specimen with pink gills was growing partially flattened under fallen wood. All were growing from soil/well decayed wood by fallen logs. The 20 spore size average was 10.3 × 7.2 microns with a Qm = 1.45. See photomicrograph for the 5-6 sided prismatic shape. Based on chemical features: ITS sequence is a close match for Entoloma stylophorum(Berk. & Br.) Sacc.
