Description
English: Albert Buhtz, born in Germany, lived 1868-1888 in Cleveland, Ohio where he learned coopering, then settled near Seattle, Washington; there, in 1896 he became manager and president of the Fremont Barrel Company in what was then known as Edgewater (North Lake Union just east of Fremont, now well within city limits. According to Clarence Bagley's history of Seattle, the Fremont Barrel Company was reorganized in 1907 as the Western Cooperage Company.
