Portrait de Madame Roger Jourdain 1885 Oeuvre d'Albert Besnard (1849-1934) Huile sur toile Paris, musée d'Orsay Oeuvre (qui fit scandale au salon de 1886 en raison de la hardiesse dans le traitement des couleurs !) présentée dans l'exposition Albert Besnard au musée du Petit Palais, Paris Comblé d’honneurs et de charges (membre de l’Académie des Beaux-Arts en 1912, directeur de la Villa Médicis de 1913 à 1921, reçu à l’Académie française en 1924, directeur de l’Ecole des Beaux-Arts de 1922 à 1932), il fut le premier peintre auquel la République fit l’honneur de funérailles nationales, bien avant Georges Braque. Trop vite oublié, il fut rangé ensuite par méconnaissance, au rayon des académiques stériles.
