Summary
[edit]DescriptionAlba Bible 183v.s.jpg |
English: Gideon selects those Israelites who drink from their hands, to fight against Midian.
Beside an expanse of water which extends across the page, Gideon's men lie flat, crouch or kneel; they drink by stretching out their heads to lap the water, or by carrying the water to their mouths in their hands. Gideon, standing on the right and wearing a jerkin with a helmet and mail headpiece, chooses those who will accompany him into battle: with his stick, he points out the three hundred men who are drinking from their hands. |
