Description
Bahasa Indonesia: Kekayaan alam di Papua, tidak lagi diragukan oleh mata dunia. Bahkan higga saat ini, masyarakat lokal di Papua masih ada yang menggunakan salah satu jenis kayu besi bercabang kecil sebagai sumber nyala api. Mayoritas yang menggunakannya adalah kaum laki-laki untuk membantu kaum perempuan menyalakan api di tungku (tempat memasak). Hal ini dikarenakan butuh tenaga lebih saat melakukan proses mengesekan kayu yang satu dengan yang lainnya. api yang dihasilkan akan secara langsung membakar serpihan kayu hasil dari gesekan kayu tersebut. Ukuran kayu tersebut berdiameter 1-1,5 CM saja. untuk menjadikannya kayu sumber api, tidak serta merta langsung digunakan. Melainkan membutuhkan proses yang panjang. Mulai dari mencari ranting kering terbaik, kemudian kayu tersebut diasar (diletakan diatas bara api/tungku) hingga kayu tersebut semakin kering dan keras. kemudian dapat digunakan.
English: Local people in Papua still use a type of ironwood with small branches as a source of flame. The size of the fire-stick is only 1-1.5 cm in diameter.
