English: Alaskan Way, Seattle, Washington, 1939, looking south across Yesler Way. Just over a decade later, this view was radically changed by the construction of the Alaskan Way Viaduct. Item 77080, Clerk File 163278 (Record Series 1802-01), Seattle Municipal Archives. Seattle Municipal Archives changed its URL scheme circa 2022; the older URLs beginning with "clerk" are deprecated, and will eventually fail. Draper Engine Works (originally built in 1918 as Heffernan Engine Works) was here until 1979. 1980-1998 was an antiques market known as the Old Firehouse Market. The building later burned (I believe after it was closed for some time).
