Summary

[edit]
Description
English: c/n HHM317.

Allocated the British Aircraft Preservation Council identity ‘BAPC232’. This composite restoration has the main fuselage of an AS.51 Horsa I with the nose of an AS.58 Horsa II. The most accessible Horsa ever, it now combines the side loading door of the Mk.I with the opening nose of the Mk.II.

The museum also has the rear fuselage from Mk.II ‘TL615’ but it does not appear to be part of this current exhibit. There may be some confusion with a further Horsa fuselage section which was recovered by the museum in 2001 and later sold to the Traces of War museum in the Netherlands, where it remains on display.

On display in the Walter Goldsmith hangar at the de Havilland Aircraft Museum, Salisbury Hall, London Colney, UK.
