Summary

[edit]
Description
English: This 12th century Dravidian temple named after Indra's elephant - "Airavat", was built by Rajaraja Chola II. It is known for its extensive stone sculpture work. This picture is of the Nandi at the entrance. The caged part next to it is built around 7 steps made of stone, to prevent damages. These are musical steps as they sound like "Sapta swara", 7 notes of Carnatic music.
