Description
English: ELIZBETH CITY, N.C. - Rescue swimmers past and present gather at Air Station Elizabeth City for a ceremony commemorating the 25th anniversary of the Coast Guard rescue swimmer program on April 2, 2010. Vice Adm. John P. Currier, the Coast Guard Chief of Staff, presented a plaque during the ceremony naming Air Station Elizabeth City as the birthplace of Coast Guard rescue swimmers. Air Station Elizabeth City became the first rescue swimmer ready unit on March 5, 1985.
