Text

[edit]

Another player of foreign birth in the latter is Aimée Dalmores, cast for the by no means unimportant part of the lady's maid. Brought here as a two-year-old child by her parents from Sorrento, Italy, at eighteen she elected for herself a career as a painter and went to Paris to study; but on her return, a year ago, acting appealed to her more strongly, and she cast about for an opening. This turned up in the shape of Clarice, of the fewest possible words, in “Dancing Around ’’ at the Winter Garden. In a month she was promoted to be Mlle. Mitzi, and when the piece left town she was retained to create her present part in “Taking Chances.”

Notes

[edit]

This article uses fanciful biographical information. Amelia Cerruti (1890-1920) who used the stage name "Aimée Dalmores" was born on 11 February 1890 in the Bronx, New York City, New York, United States. She appears in the 1900 United States Census living in the Bronx and has older siblings born in the United States. Her death certificate states that she was born in "New York". Her father Luigi may have been born in Sorrento, Italy based only on the information in this article, he was naturalized in 1892 and probably arrived in the United States around 1882-1885.
