Summary
[edit]DescriptionAilanthus altissima tree (17506220920).jpg | Sapling growth can reach 3-4 feet in one year, thus out growing nearly any native tree species. Mature trees can reach 80 feet in height. Ailanthus has male and female flowers on separate trees. Ailanthus trees are very vigorous sprouters, and are capable of producing dense thickets of stems that exclude native plants. Native look-alikes include sumac and walnut trees. (Photo courtesy of USDA Forest Service Northern Research Station) |
