Description
English: Ceramic incense burner in the shape of a standing elephant, grey glaze, Yamadera kiln. The kiln was located in Utsumi, today part of Minamichita, Aichi prefecture. The kiln was active in the years Meiji 40 (1907) - Taishō 3 (1914). Minamichita Town Board of Education, exhibited at Aichi Prefectural Ceramic Museum.

内海焼 (うつみやき)山寺窯 (やまでらよう)

明月窯が濃尾地震で廃絶した後、持宝院住職の森恵範が内海焼を再興すべく、境内に窯を築いて作陶したもの。陶土は内海産のものを用いたといい、器壁が比較的厚く、飯茶碗、煎茶碗、皿などの日用品が多い。展示品の香炉はやや珍しい事例である。
