Summary

[edit]
Description
English: Aerial view of the upper reaches of the Tamaki River, 28 June 1949. This shows parts of Papatoetoe, Mangere East and Otahuhu, and was taken as an example of the so-called 'Green Belt', a semi-rural stretch of land between Papatoetoe and Mangere. The Tamaki bridge takes the Great South Road across the Tamaki River towards the lower right. The Otara Creek snakes past the Dominion Brewery complex in the left foreground. The upper reaches of the Tamaki River lead past the Auckland Golf Club links towards Middlemore Hospital near the centre. The main trunk railway line crosses the upper middle ground.
