Description

NASA Goddard Center Director Chris Scolese and Maryland Senator Barbara Mikulski receive a briefing from Art Azarbarzin, project manager for the Global Precipitation Measurement (GPM) satellite. GPM is an international mission that will set a new standard for precipitation measurements from space, providing the next-generation observations of rain and snow worldwide every three hours. Bolden’s visit to Goddard was the first by the administrator to a NASA field center following the government shutdown that halted most of the space agency’s activities from Oct. 1 -16, 2013.
