Summary

[edit]
Description

Acid mine–contaminated tributary stream of Dutchman Run, Lycoming County, within the McIntyre Wild Area of Loyalsock State Forest.

The stream, flowing on a bed of orange-stained rocks, is a good candidate for a remediation project. Upstream, an abandoned strip mine is the source of contamination. The stream passes through several culm piles before emptying into Dutchman Run in a series of cascades and small waterfalls.
