Description
English: :Female goshawk. Grey-brown covers, supercilium less contrasted than on male, very large. Perched on the same Lime tree (Tilia cordata) where it has been observed repeatedly on previous occasions. Observed for 10 minutes. The goshawk saw me but paid no attention. From previous observations, this particular individual has a comfort distance of at least 90 m. (which is close for a goshawk).
The goshawk called repeatedly and continued to do so for at least 20 minutes after I had left the area.
Urban setting. Cemetery. Recorded at ca. 90 m. using a directional microphone. Normalized at -3dB, 300Hz low cut filter.
Interestingly, this lime tree is one of the original lime trees planted here in 1843, and perhaps one of the oldest trees in town (http://www.stadtentwicklung.berlin.de/denkmal/listekartedatenbank/de/denkmaldatenbank/daobj.php?objdoknr=09010182).
