Summary
[edit]DescriptionAccident at Connolly - 1971 - (3) - geograph.org.uk - 3244874.jpg |
English: Accident at Connolly – 1971 – (3) Sitting in one of the former City of Dublin Junction Railway platforms, Metropolitan Vickers built Co-Co locomotive No. A1r attends the derailment at Connolly with the Inchicore steam crane. A1 entered traffic in September 1955, was rebuilt with a General Motors 1325hp engine in March 1971 (becoming A1r – later 001), was withdrawn in September 1995 and scrapped in November of that year. The traditional steam crane disappeared from Irish railways many years ago, although at least one exists in preservation. |
