Sterling Silver Urn/Cup presented to Admiral of the Navy George Dewey, USN by citizens of Savannah,Georgia on March 20th 1900. The urn/cup was presented to the Admiral in recognition of his service during the Spanish-American War in 1898, in particular the Battle of Manila Bay. On March 6th 2010, the third USS Dewey (DDG-105) is being commissioned. The urn/cup will be loaned to the USS Dewey along with other items associated with the Admiral from the collection of Curator Branch, NHHC. |
