Proposed diagenetic pathway for abietic acid involving defunctionalization and dearomatization to retene

Summary

[edit]
Description
English: When subjected to heat and pressure in sediments, abietic acid and its isomers lose oxygen-containing functional groups and become aromatized. During diagenesis, abietic acid is believed to transform to retene according to this transformation pathway.
