Summary

[edit]
Description
English: Aberlemno Stone (replica) An exhibit in the Royal Scottish Museum, Chambers Street. This copy of the original stone in Perthshire stands amid a unique collection of carved Pictish stones. It depicts a battle and is a primary source for Pictish warriors and their weapons. Some think it might commemorate the Battle of Nechtansmere between the Picts and the Angles in 685 AD. Others have conjectured that it might show the Battle of Mons Graupius around 84 AD when a Roman army led by General Agricola defeated a tribal alliance of Caledonians led by the Celtic chieftain Calgacus.
