Der rund 34 m hohe Turm auf dem Gelände der Kuchelbauer Brauerei, ist eine Kreation von Friedensreich Hundertwasser. Der Künstler verstarb aber noch im Jahre 2000 während der Planungsphase. Gebaut wurde der Turm dann vom Architekten Peter Pelikan. Ursprünglich sollte der Turm 70 Meter hoch werden. Doch der konservative Bürgermeister und der Generallkonservator des Bayrischen Landesamt für Denkmalpflege (E.J. Greipel) erstritten vor Gericht einen kleineren Turm, angeblich um die Silhouette der der Altstadt nicht zu beeinträchtigen. Diese Silhouette ist allerdings extrem langweilig und absolut nichts sagend und interessiert keinen Menschen ausserhalb Abensberges. Des Turmes wegens kommen aber an guten Tagen tausende Besucher aus aller Welt in die verschlafene, niederbayrische Kleinstadt.

The approximately 34-meter tower on the site of the brewery Kuchelbauer is a creation of Friedensreich Hundertwasser. The artist died in 2000, still in the planning stage. The tower was built by the architect Peter Pelikan. Originally, the tower will be 70 meters high. But the conservative mayor and Generallkonservator the Bavarian State Conservation Office (EJ Greipel) fought in Court smaller tower, supposedly not to impair the skyline of the old town. This silhouette is, however, extremely boring and completely bland.
