Title
A strap end plate in plan.
Description
English: What remains of the strap end is a single sheet of copper alloy. This plate maybe cast. The exterior surface of the plate is a polished mid green patina. The interior surface is a mottled blue/green colour, but is not polished. The length of strap end is 24.3mm and is 9.1mm at the widest point.

In plan the plate is sub-rectangular, with one narrow edge tapering to a blunt point. At this terminal there is a larger circular rivet hole. At the other square-edged terminal there is a small rivet hole.

The upper surface of the plate is decorated with a border of astamped '/\' design. This design borders the long straight edges.

The reverse of the strap end is flat and undecorated.

These strap ends tend to be medieval, and date to the 13th to 15th centuries. Egan and Pritchard illustrate a wide range.
