Title
A post-medieval musket ball
Description
English: A lead alloy musket ball of post-Medieval date, circa 1644. A faint casting seam and a circular mark where the casting sprue has been removed with nippers are still visible. It also has circumferential grooves, probably from the inside of the mould. The ball has a pale, yellowish-grey patina. It is 15.7mm in diameter and weighs 21.42gm. The weight suggests it would have been used in a carbine. (Harding (2012) Lead Shot of the English Civil War: a Radical Study.)
