A nearly complete sixpence of Elizabeth I
Description
English: A near complete silver sixpence of Elizabeth I (1558-1603) dating to the period 1561-1565. North Number 1997.

The obverse is very worn and so much of the field is not visible however there is evidence for a crown which suggests a left facing, crowned bust. The legend reads ELIZABETH:D G ANG FRA ET HIB REGINA.

The reverse depicts a quartered shield. The legend reads POSVI/DEV:AD/IVTORE/M:MEV. The initial mark is a Pheon.
