Title
A cast copper alloy Post Medieval knee buckle
Description
English: An incomplete cast copper alloy two piece Post Medieval knee buckle. It is sub-rectangular in plan and D shape in section, with the reverse being flat. It is the corner of a buckle, with a single inner knop surviving on the long arm. There is a moulded curvilinear line following the outer edge of the buckle, and the beginning of a moulded triangular design on the shorter arm. There are long parallel shallow scratches on the reverse, probably from finishing. The buckle was tinned. All breaks are old, and it is in fair condition. It is covered in a dark green patina, the tinning visible in the moulded lines. It dates between 1720-1790 It measures 40.75 mm L x 21.13 mm W x 2.75 mm TH and weighs 7.85 g.
